In Mangaluru, Karnataka, a man has been taken into custody for questioning due to allegations of sending inflammatory messages in a WhatsApp group named 'Mangaluru Muslim Youth Sena', as reported by local police on Saturday.
Authorities indicated that this action is part of ongoing efforts to monitor and crack down on the spread of incendiary and hate-filled content on social media, particularly following the murder of Suhas Shetty.
The police have registered a case against the suspect and are interrogating him in connection with the homicide.
According to police sources, the case has been filed under Section 353(2) of the Indian Penal Code. The individual has been identified as Mohammad Anas, a resident of Vittla in the South Canara district, and is currently under investigation.
Previously, in response to the murder of Suhas Shetty, a member of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), and the ensuing communal tensions, law enforcement took significant measures by deactivating an Instagram page named 'Biari Royal Nawab' that was allegedly disseminating provocative and communal hate content. Police stated that this page featured posts that were reportedly offensive and aimed at inciting discord between communities.
